Investigation Continuing into Fatal Crash in North Carolina
By Keith Giles, WFSC, Franklin
Investigators are trying to put the pieces together as to what caused Tuesday’s fatal accident on U.S. 23 in Otto.
The head-on collision between two pick-ups that killed 70-year old Sylvia Bolick occurred around 12:30 p.m. near Riverside. Troopers say 39-year old Christopher McMahan was traveling south in the northbound lane when he hit Sylvia and her husband Ellard Bolick, who was driving.
As of Friday morning, both McMahan and Ellard Bolick were listed in the neuro-trauma ICU at Mission Hospital.
Sargent Wood of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol says the accident reconstruction team continues to look for evidence in the incident. He said charges could be filed, but at this point it’s too early to determine if anyone will be charged and with what.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bolick will be this Sunday at 3 p.m. at Macon Funeral Home.
